A true icon of the Barossa, the 2018 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz is crafted from old, dry-grown Shiraz vines and pressed using traditional basket methods. Matured in seasoned oak, it offers rich aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, spice, and mocha.
Full-bodied and velvety on the palate, this wine delivers layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and black pepper with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. Enjoy now with decanting, or cellar for 15–20 years.
Alcohol: ~14.5% ABV | Bottle Size: 750ml | Closure: Cork
Food Pairing: Roast lamb, ribeye steak, mushroom ragu, aged cheddar.

With deep, concentrated flavors of dark berries, plum, and subtle earthy spice, this vintage is balanced by soft tannins and a smooth, elegant finish.

Deep ruby. Medium nose. Ripe black fruits, blackberry and plum. Initially the flavour profile was dominated by red and black liquorice but that moved into a more supporting role with some decanting. Dry.
Medium acid. High alcohol. Full body. Long finish. Exceptional quality.

•The 2018 vintage has strong notes of mocha, and vanilla on the nose with a spicy sweet warmth (13.8%) Dark fruits of black cherry and cassis. Acid is high but not out of balance and will give longevity to the wine.
Tannins are dry and chalky on the front palate, alcohol is a little noticeable on the mid palate. Decant at least 2-2.5 hours before drinking. Will cellar for at least a other 10-15 years

Really really lovely complex wine. So smooth. Notes of plum, black currant, oak, leather. Could have laid done for longer but overall a lovely big red. Enjoyed at a dinner party with pot roast.

We visited Rockford in 2018 and were delighted by this gem of a winery. But the Basket Press convinced us much earlier. Masterfully made, powerful, acidic, with character and grandeur. It is incredibly slim, with plenty of backbone and perfectly ripe tannins. Now in its prime. Black cherry, plum extract, pipe tobacco and licorice. Great!

Has aged very well. An elegant wine perfectly balanced with cherry, vanilla, and chocolate. The richness is much more evident now, with just enough spice through a touch of pepper. One of my favourites.

Unbelievable wine, no contender for a better Aussie Shiraz. Perfect when aged, elegant, complex, well balanced, juicy and big.
