has quite a spectacular history. The quality and elegance of the wines have been the maxim of all the château’s owners since Master Winemaker Joseph de Pichon Longueville's reign in the 18th century. Hermitage Wine presents to you a Vertical vintages of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.

The unique encepagement and the twelve hectares of vines situated on the soils of St Julien endow the wines of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande with an exceptional personality compared with the other crus of the Pauillac appellation. Complexity, elegance and longevity are the hallmarks of this race, they are found every year during the creation of the vintages..

The nose is distinguished by a bouquet of aromas, mixing blackcurrant and violet, vanilla and cinnamon. In the palate, the tannins appear mature and melted, revealing a strong and affirmed structure, a surprising suppleness, perfect harmony and long persistency. The wine is seductive when young without prejudicing its longevity. James Laubé of the Wine Spectator baptised Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, “A First Class Second Cru”, a most fitting tribute…

The wines see a high percentage of new oak so the style is modern and up front. Purists may argue over the liberal use of new oak but there are a large number of collectors in the World who seek out these fine, unfiltered wines.

The Grands Crus here are Griotte Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin and Chapelle Chambertin – wines which command extremely high prices due to their extreme rarity and awesome quality.

Back in 1974, Italy’s best kept winery secret, Capannelle, has been quietly producing its wines’ behind the closed doors of a old XVI century farmhouse in Gaiole, Chianti.

Current owner, James B. Sherwood, is the founder and shareholder of the Orient – Express Hotels LTD., which owns some of the world’s most beautiful hotels: Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Hotel Spendido in Portofino, Villa San Michele in Florence, Hotel Caruso in Ravello and many others.

The productions of Capannelle wines takes place over 21 hectares. 16 of them are vineyard, 3 are taken up by forest, and 2 are cultivated as an olive grove. In the 16 hectare vineyard, 3 hectares are set aside for Chardonnay and the remaining are separated between Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera.

Besides producing 80,000 bottles per year, 800 Litres of extra-virgin olive oil are produced each year resulting in a variety selection such as Leccino and Moraiolo.

The history of the Sancerre vineyards goes back almost a thousand years, for it was in 11th and 12th centuries that monks in the surrounding districts began to cultivate vines.

“This Sancerre has fresh red grapefruit and tart peach flavors with a long finish easy going. The crisp acidity would cut through the fatty pate and the creamy soup. It’s not overly complex and doesn’t get in the way as the conversation in the film gets deep and multi-faceted.”

The history of the Sancerre vineyards goes back almost a thousand years, for it was in 11th and 12th centuries that monks in the surrounding districts began to cultivate vines. From the reign of Philippe-Augustus to the reign of Louis XVI, the Kings of France delighted in Sancerre wine – “one of the most exquisite of the Kingdom”, as one described it – and a 19th century devoté, Honoré de Balzac, famously paid tribute to the “generous wines” of Sancerre.

Today The Château de Sancerre is still owned by the Société des Produits Marnier-Lapostolle, also producers of Grand Marnier liqueurs and owners of the Château de Bourg Charente. It is here, in the heart of its historic birthplace, that an exclusive estate-bottled Sancerre wine is made and matured – the only wine which can be sold under the exclusive name Château de Sancerre.

Price: $46 nett per bottle
From: Sonoma County, California, USA
Retail Price: $78 nett

Spicy, full-bodied red wine layered with dark berry fruit impressions and an edge of earthiness. Limited-production proprietary blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah from specific Sonoma County appellations.

This is our third vintage of Cinema, and probably the most intensely concentrated of the vintages. The 2008 Cinema has tremendous richness as a result of the fruit’s ripeness, and a solid tannin structure that will allow it to mature nicely over time.

Those who are fans of Super Tuscans will enjoy the spicy, full-bodied nature of this wine as well as the juicy fruit impressions of blackberries, cherries, currants, anise and cigar box. Dark and decadent, but with a good showing of balance and complexity.

Blend: 47% Zinfandel, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Sirah
