Situated in Rutherford, one of the premier Cabernet Sauvignon growing regions in California owned by Francis Ford Coppola, the Estate strives to preserve the tradition of its predecessors by crafting world class wines.

It took more than twenty years to reunite all of the original vineyards and restore winemaking to the chateau. Now that this is complete, we have progressed into a new era of innovation, choosing to rename the property – Rubicon Estate – after our critically acclaimed flagship wine.

Current owner, James B. Sherwood, is the founder and shareholder of the Orient – Express Hotels LTD., which owns some of the world’s most beautiful hotels: Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Hotel Spendido in Portofino, Villa San Michele in Florence, Hotel Caruso in Ravello and many others.

The productions of Capannelle wines takes place over 21 hectares. 16 of them are vineyard, 3 are taken up by forest, and 2 are cultivated as an olive grove. In the 16 hectare vineyard, 3 hectares are set aside for Chardonnay and the remaining are separated between Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera.

Besides producing 80,000 bottles per year, 800 Litres of extra-virgin olive oil are produced each year resulting in a variety selection such as Leccino and Moraiolo.

The history of the Sancerre vineyards goes back almost a thousand years, for it was in 11th and 12th centuries that monks in the surrounding districts began to cultivate vines.

“This Sancerre has fresh red grapefruit and tart peach flavors with a long finish easy going. The crisp acidity would cut through the fatty pate and the creamy soup. It’s not overly complex and doesn’t get in the way as the conversation in the film gets deep and multi-faceted.”

The history of the Sancerre vineyards goes back almost a thousand years, for it was in 11th and 12th centuries that monks in the surrounding districts began to cultivate vines. From the reign of Philippe-Augustus to the reign of Louis XVI, the Kings of France delighted in Sancerre wine – “one of the most exquisite of the Kingdom”, as one described it – and a 19th century devoté, Honoré de Balzac, famously paid tribute to the “generous wines” of Sancerre.

Today The Château de Sancerre is still owned by the Société des Produits Marnier-Lapostolle, also producers of Grand Marnier liqueurs and owners of the Château de Bourg Charente. It is here, in the heart of its historic birthplace, that an exclusive estate-bottled Sancerre wine is made and matured – the only wine which can be sold under the exclusive name Château de Sancerre.

Price: $46 nett per bottle
From: Sonoma County, California, USA
Retail Price: $78 nett

Spicy, full-bodied red wine layered with dark berry fruit impressions and an edge of earthiness. Limited-production proprietary blend of Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah from specific Sonoma County appellations.

This is our third vintage of Cinema, and probably the most intensely concentrated of the vintages. The 2008 Cinema has tremendous richness as a result of the fruit’s ripeness, and a solid tannin structure that will allow it to mature nicely over time.

Those who are fans of Super Tuscans will enjoy the spicy, full-bodied nature of this wine as well as the juicy fruit impressions of blackberries, cherries, currants, anise and cigar box. Dark and decadent, but with a good showing of balance and complexity.

Blend: 47% Zinfandel, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Sirah

Others are sourced from all over Champagne and selected for their intrinsic qualities demanded by our wines.

Genuine wines:
The first fermentation takes place in thermo regulated tanks (12 000 Hl).
After the blending of vintages, wines are matured on ‘’ lattes’’ in our cool caves (3 million bottles capacity).

We are proud to present one of Burgundy’s treasures:
The “Domaine des Epeneaux” owes its name to The “Clos des Epeneaux”, somptuous piece of land of five hectares acquired by Nicolas Marey, in the late of the XVIIIth century and early of the XIXth.

In 1828, The “Clos des Epeneaux” and its building, located in the center of Pommard and known under Fief Rancy’s name, where there and then included in the estate of Count Armand’s family.

The Domaine remained as it was until to 1994, when it was expanded to vines in Volnay, then with plots of Auxey-Duresses.

Actually, Le Domaine des Epeneaux stretches out over a total surface of 7,5 hectares and developes wines which will be, for every one, the expression of its “terroir”.

Allen Meadows from Burghound.com, “the ultimate Burgundy reference” rated this wine 94pts and his comment is “Outstanding”!

Tasting note: Like the 2006, this is presently brooding and even more backward with only grudging and very ripe notes of plum, spice and earth in evidence where the earthy character can also be found on the textured, velvety and mouth coating full-bodied flavors blessed by superb depth of material and so much dry extract that the finish is borderline chewy but not at all aggressive.

A serious wine that will need at least 15 and probably 20 years to really be at its best but when it arrives, it should more than repay the wait. Note that in my strong opinion it is pointless to purchase this and try to enjoy it young as it really will need extended bottle age to justify the price of admission.

Producer note: Benjamin Leroux was extremely positive about the quality of the ’05 vintage calling it “potentially the finest fruit we’ve harvested. I decided to start picking on the 16th of September because the north wind had begun to dehydrate the berries, raising not only potential alcohol but potential acidity as well. The fruit was incredibly clean, in fact so clean that it was honestly hard to believe and sorting was simply not necessary.

Yields were exceptionally consistent as a result because we essentially prune the same way in all our vineyards in the sense of the bunch loads, which in this case netted us between 34 and 36 hl/ha. I destemmed 100% as per usual though I did a bit more punching down. In my view the potential of the raw materials was so good that I wasn’t going to leave it in the grapes.

Overall, 2005 is a really impressive vintage with the acidity of 1996 and the ripeness of 2003 though without the surmaturité.” Leroux said that the malos were extremely long and some barrels didn’t finish until October and because none of the wines had been racked, there was in many cases obvious reduction. As the scores and comments suggest, this is an extremely fine set of ’05s and the Clos des Epeneaux is one of the Côte de Beaune stars of the vintage.
